Envisioning A Reversal Of The Traps That Cause Innocent People To Be Taken Advantage Of

Many folks tell of the hardship of the lower class and are upset that people do not have a fair chance. Indeed, social workers who do case work, often talk about this in coffee shops and at work. Recently, one contacted our Online Think Tank and clearly stated:
My vision is to reverse the “traps’ that cause innocent and undereducated people to “fatten the pockets” of those who have the ” smart and where with all.
She had real examples, observation and 20 years experience to back her up, as I stated:
Yes, I see that issue too. One thing I have found is the very people who are undereducated who fall into traps are the same folks who will talk to their friends on the phone when working at a store instead of assisting the customers even though they are on the clock. They are the same people who believe they have the right to steal from the employer because they think they deserve more money. They are the first ones to pull a workmen’s compensation lawsuit scam. Steal silverware from Denny’s or demand more free services and lambaste the establishment. So many people feel entitled and justify cheating; in school, on resumes, at work and even their own families.
And then the discussion got really serious, as she was asked if she had any ideas on her vision that might be worthy of discussion, as we were sure her plan was well thought out considering her incredible experience in social services. Guess what, she gave us a 7-point answer on how to fix the problem, astounded, we wanted to probe this in greater detail, then after than she gave us another critique of society and the lower class struggles as she said:
.. .. to make profits off denying social ills as being more than one individual can “sometimes over come.
Again another important point of contention, that we must consider as well, and then I stated:
Yes, I understand this too, however most businesses do not make money off denying the lower class or promoting social ills, they make money on providing what consumers desire and consummate a transaction with a unit of trade, we call a dollar. The consumer is free to choose. One individual can over come anything, but not if they believe they can’t. If one believes they cannot do something, indeed they are right and will in the end prove it to themselves and everyone in observance. If the individual desires “alcohol” and they spend their money buying drugs or liquid poison then it is the individual’s responsibility of course. If the business owner Jim Beam sells it to a consumer who is suppose to use discretion and moderation, then is it really the business owner’s fault? Personal responsibility is a must and people must be responsible, work hard, learn, study, etc.. If the individual fails and if there is enough of them failing, we all lose.
You know after stating this to the social worker, I thought back when I was in college, I took 33 credits in one-semester, yes a record, but the point is that I dug in and did whatever it took to finish, without cheating. With that workload, I could barely afford a place to live and food. Sometimes sacrifice, commitment and perseverance to press on is important too. The standards of acceptance are too low and the expectations are too often non-existent. I think those are issues as well. Anyway, everyone needs to look at every problem from every angle or well, we will never solve any of the challenges in our society, think on this.
