Going to New York City traditionally means seeing a Broadway musical. Many have their favorite list of Broadway musicals to catch. Currently, on Broadway if you love theater with all its song and dance then there are a few shows that should be at the top. With all the great revivals that have been winning over audiences and critics as well as newer productions winning all the awards it is a great time to spend the day in the city and take in a show.

The storyline centers around two rival gangs and the love interest between two members. It is regarded as a groundbreaking undertaking when it first opened on Broadway the revival has worked to adapt into current times with some minor variations to the original.

3) South Pacific – After the first performance in New York City since the original closed back in 1954 it was evident fans and critics were ready for its return. Easily, on the list of Broadway musicals for the way it engages audiences through romantic, dramatic and sometimes comedic stories around the perspectives of World War II. The stories hold up and remain relevant for today's changing times and with classic songs such as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair,” “Bali Hai” it is hard to go wrong. Coming from the time period most theater guru's consider to be the “Golden Age” of Broadway lies the opportunity to see a show immersed in New York City entertainment history.

Lacking in this list is “Wicked” which regularly always gets a top spot for its admiration. For anyone who has not yet seen Wicked then yes you must see the show.
