Copying CD is a very prime and a major function in most of the computers and laptops. CD copying is the major function in music CD duplication process and related industry. CD and DVD copying can be done if the computer is equipped with CD copiers. These softwares can be integrated in the system or can be installed from third party vendors.
CD and DVD recording can be done in two ways:
- Directly burning or copying data or files from computer to blank CD or DVD.
- Copying matter from one CD/DVD to another blank CD/DVD.
Normally, the first method is more prevalent and is involved indirectly in the second one too. Disk duplication can be done only when there are two CD/DVD disk spaces allotted in the computer. Usually, there is space or section for one disk only. Hence, CD or DVD duplication can be done by first copying the written CD material to the hard disk and then transferring the material from the hard disk to the blank CD/DVD.
There are some dos and donts of copying CD which can be of great use for novice users:
- Burn or copy only legitimate and genuine CD and DVD. Do not take these disks from anyone, just on an informal note that these are authentic.
- If you CD writing software or CD recorder is very old, do not use it for copying as it can corrupt your CD or DVD.
- Arrange some space in the hard disk for files generated during the CD burning process.
- Always maintain a temporary and a complete folder of all the files which have to be copied on CD/DVD.
- Do not copy or burn the CD more than its holding capacity. Doing so can damage the CD and also the CD writer.
- Do not write or copy any unidentified files or data from internet.
- Close all other applications during a CD burn process, otherwise a buffer underrun error will render the CD useless.
- There are manifold options in a computer to write a CD. Go for only that one which burns your CD properly and without any hassles.
