Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T70 Review - Touchscreen display and lots of other Gems

Posted on January 21, 2010 - Filed Under electronics

The high points of this camera are it's great low light focusing ability, fast performance and good image stabilization. This camera was built great, you can definitely feel the quality of the camera when you hold it in your hands. However there are some letdowns like the poor battery life and the fiddly touch-screen interface also the picture quality is here and there.

The tech features like smile shutter really save this camera. The smile shutter works like this when you hold down the button to take a picture the camera recognizes when people are smiling and takes the picture, you have to hold the button for about 6 seconds for this function.

The other cool thing this camera does is Face detection. Face detection works kind of like the smile shutter function, basically the camera has a sensor that can detect faces and it focuses on the faces when taking the picture.

Optical image stabilization is in this camera also and it works just like the name. If you have shaky hands the camera adjusts so you don't get blurry pictures.

The 3-inch touchscreen display is straight forward in how to use it but we found it too be tedious going through all the features. The things you can do with the touchscreen are things like retouch pictures change the picture modes for certain settings like beach and fireworks.

This camera is priced at $239.95.
