Mastermind Monster Or Think Tank Treat?

Posted on April 28, 2008 - Filed Under Arts and Entertainment

We must thank our lucky stars for all the sound and fury as well as the chaos and controversy that the wonderful mind-numbing mass media hysteria provides us. Why you ask? Well, simple, without all the debate and issues of our day our mastermind group and online think tank would hardly be needed - for instance let us take the Guantanamo or Abu Grave International Terrorist issues and all the emotions it evokes.

On Salon.com it was reported; “Psychologists to CIA: We condemn torture? - In a rebuke of President Bush, the American Psychological Association has resolved to condemn brutal CIA and military interrogations”

One member of the Online Think Tank stated; “Wow, that is interesting, what do psychologists think they are doing when they take on a client and play with their minds?” Well there you go, a big Touche to the Psychologist Professionals then? Interestingly enough when we repeated that to several folks at Starbucks it was truly amazing how many people laughed at that. When we posted that onto the internet we had many comments, as folks agreed. It seems that the Internet is a decent way to survey public opinion isn’t it?

Did you know that in an article titled; Americans Turn to the Internet for Health Information Nearly as Often as They Turn to Doctors, Says Survey” - Aug 15, 2007, News Report. They found statistically more people look things up on the Internet than asking a doctor what is wrong with them? It’s true and additional findings from the Harris survey include:

Two-thirds of Americans search to help them diagnose or better understand a condition (71 percent), and more than half of adults reporting doing the same for friends and family members (55 percent). Nearly 30 percent of adults (28 percent) reported leveraging the Internet to find alternative (e.g., homeopathic) treatment options.

Why? Well it seems that it is anonymous and simple, easy to use. That makes sense indeed. How is your health - have you searched the Internet lately to learn more about it? Are you overworked, full of stress and do not know where to turn? Well may I suggest the book “Executive Health - how to make a nice health danger signals and symptoms.” By Philip Goldberg and Business Week 1978.

Although this book was written in 1978, the issues with overstress are twice as serious now, as they were back then. Mr. Goldberg discusses signs and symptoms, psychological dimensions, exercise, food nutrition, sleep and prevention. He further goes into noise pollution and stress from work. A little bit of prevention may prevent you from having to go to the Internet to find out what is going on with your body when the symptoms start to hurt.

The fact of the matter is, you will not be much good to a think tank. If you let your health get trashed and do not keep your mind finely tuned. I certainly hope you will consider this. So you can live a long and prosperous life.
