Kids love birds, so give them a animated dose of fun bird hijinks with these great bird movies for kids of all ages. Beware, kids may fall in love with birds after watching these films that they will be begging you for a large bird cage and pet parrot.
Over the Hedge
With a hilarious all star cast including the voicework of Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, William Shatner, Nick Nolte and Avril Lavigne, you cant go wrong with this great bird-related film for kids and adults alike. Based on the comic strip of the same name, Over the Hedge is about a number of various animals working together (in hilarious fashion) to scrounge for food. Kids will love the animation and humor and adults will get a kick out of the great voice work.
Hoot
Can you guess what type of bird is the star of this film? This family comedy is about a group of young kids trying to save an owl habitat from being destroyed by the intended construction of a pancake house. There is a great message in the film about not being greedy as well as about the importance of preserving our environment and the species who l ive in it.
For the Birds
This short film by the masters at Pixar is about a small group of birds on a telephone wire. When a much larger and different looking bird shows up the smaller birds push him away with insults because he is taking up more room on the wire. The kind, large bird tries to win the small birds friendship but they continue to try to push him off the wire. There is a great message in this wonderfully animated film about bullying and kindness to strangers.
