How to Draw a Cat

After learning the fundamentals of how to draw figures that stand still, serious artists are introduced to the concept of the line of action. What is it?
First of all, the action line represents the figure's flow of motion. This is particularly important in portraying cats. Artists experienced in capturing a cat's movement in drawing begin their composition doodling with waves of lines on their paper or canvas, trying to imagine a suitable movement or action for their figure. Finding the right line of action is crucial to their drawing as they consider it the “mother of all foundations.”

By now, everyone knows that there are ways to sell art work online. Artwork can be sold through online gallery portals, personal websites and auction sites. But how does a person make sure that his art stands out against all of the artists that are hawking their wares online?
Have an Offline Art Presence
Wait! What? Isn't the easiest way to sell artwork through the internet? Sure, the internet is a great way to get your artwork in front of most of the world, but not everyone loves the internet as much as you (and we) do. Submit your work to art fairs, craft wares and local art festivals. Teach an art class. Every sale you make or person you show your art to becomes a potential online customer as well.

Everyone's favorite slogan, “Keep Austin Weird,” certainly applies to this unique and funky museum. Heavily slanted towards music, the South Austin Museum of Pop Culture aims to preserve and exhibit art and artifacts that reflect Austin's influence on the larger realm of popular culture. Located on South Lamar in the venerated 78704 zip code, the SAMPC has permanent collections dating back to the 1960s, and mount exhibitions featuring the works of some of Austin's most exciting new artists.
The bulk of their collection is dedicated to what they consider to be the quintessential Austin art form, the music concert poster. Featuring works by Guy Juke, Billy Perkins, Danny Garrett, Henry Gonzales, Sam Yeates, Jim Franklin, and many others, the SAMPC poster collection makes a serious case for including Austin's artists in the pantheon of poster art codified by the Fillmore in San Francisco. These works tell the history of Austin music in colorful, interpretive ways.

Contemporary art is one kind of art that everyone can afford. The reason is that there are a lot of living artists producing quality work that is very collectible. The buyer of contemporary art only needs to understand that while personal taste makes art collecting fun, it does not always equate with profit.
First of all the buyer must understand that the seller, in this case possibly a living artist, believes in their work. And most artists are serious in their beliefs although not necessarily the Rembrandt of the future. When it comes to profit, that is a call that the buyer must make, otherwise the collector has fun art but no profit.

I cradled me and looked after my being
remembered Bible stories
Jesus healing sick souls
once mine.
I was so tempted
felt emotions that hummed.
I wanted to taste the moment
smell the scent
smother the lion in all who pursued me.
I touched the moon,
and then I slept there.
I thought I heard you singing.
It was way past midnight,
but I still decided to wait,
grant you entrance into my images of rain
and memories of storms.
I searched for a compass held inside my pocket,
that’s where I keep my treasures.
I pulled out reams of paper first
poetry carefully written
and there
between the folds
tightly clad
my compass
my moral measuring tool.
I held it to the light
yet
could not decipher the rainbows
nor the thunder.
Italian Renaissance Artists – Giotto Bondone

More than six hundred years ago, in 1276, a child was born in Italy in a small village called Vespignano, close by the city of Florence. The baby’s father was called Bondone, and though he worked long, hard hours in the countryside, he was never able to bring much money back to the family table. He called his little son Giotto.
Life was tough and hard in the village of Vespignano, and Giotto soon grew into a strong, hardy boy. He was no stranger to hunger and cold. The hills surrounding the village were grey and bare, relieved only by the silver glint of olive-trees in the sunlight, or green corn shoots in early spring. In summer, the barren hillside offered little protection from the blazing sun, high in the sky, and the grass which grew among the grey rocks was often burnt and brown. The sheep of the village were turned out onto the hills to find what food they could, tended and watched over by one of the village boys.

I must fly! I said.
I want to!
I want to put my fingers around Saturn.
I want to spin and hear a whiz
around my ears and head
I want to charm it like a serpent.
Teach me how I said.
Let me know the wind and all its power.
I want to know it like my dreams describe.
You leaned forward
and kissed my eyes
put your hands behind my ears
bringing me the sound of rainbows.
Give me flowers I said.
There are a million colors to be had.
You pointed toward a unicorn
ready for my adventure
and gave me a map that led to fields of them.
Let me know the fragrance of love
let me understand its caring
I will live there.
Law Of Attraction Rich Science Secret And Skulls Of Crossbones Artwork – All Wear White Wings
Posted on April 24, 2008 - Filed Under Arts and Entertainment | Leave a Comment
My never going back remains on my menu.
Skulls crossbones artwork
trying to fight back.
That end will always be with me.
Something we made fun of at times.
So close to laughing
yet too much pain remains
along with wasted time.
I still write poems.
Hope for wealth I guess.
I lie in wait.
That law of attraction rich science secret
peeping in these days.
I hold on to fantasies
You must have known I would.
I write them
but rarely recognize them in the morning.
I keep paints in every room now.
I lust and gather their gifts to me.
I keep articles of deeds
superstitions I guess
hung up on my easel.
One never knows
when roadways will open.
Friendship Poems 4 – Ma Ma Said No!

You may use this as a lesson plan and give it to a friend you care about. When a friend gets off track and needs guidance, you can give him a dose of old fashion wisdom. Ma ma is a hero and no matter your age, she still has a big influence over you because ma ma knows best.
The problem occurs with your friend because he knows better, but he is not willing to do better. He is not willing to accept responsibility for any of his actions. One way of getting him to recognize that he has a problem is by writing him a “Ma ma said no!” poem.
Sample Poem:
Ma Ma Said No!
No! No! She said,
“Don’t touch that”
